Screen Printing

Screen printing involves pushing ink through a mesh screen stencil onto a substrate, usually fabric. A stencil of the design is created on the screen using a light-sensitive emulsion. Ink is then applied and pressed through the stencil with a squeegee, transferring the design onto the material. For multi-color designs, separate stencils and screens are used for each color, requiring precise alignment to ensure the final image is aligned or "registered".

Screen Printing PRicing

Each screen printed impression on a garment requires a new screen. For white inks on darker garments, an extra white base layer is usally required.  Each new color and each artwork placment make for moe screens, for example a black and blue logo on the front and a different blue design on back of a white shirt would take 3 screens, two screens for the two color art on the front, and one more for the other blue artwork on back.

Takeaway: More colors and more art placements means more screens and more cost.
